Learning to function again within the community environment can be challenging for those individuals with more complex injuries. Many people struggle with independence and how to apply treatment strategies provided in the home environment once the support of therapy professionals, family, and caregivers has been reduced or removed. Rehabilitation efforts to support this transition involve the practice of strategies within the community environment with the goal of greater independence, social re-integration, and safety as supports are gradually reduced.
